Why the Factory PCV Hose Fails

Audi’s OE breather hose relies on plastic connectors and diaphragm-style check valves that degrade from repeated heat cycling. As these valves weaken, they can leak or fail entirely, allowing boost pressure to enter the crankcase.

When that happens, crankcase pressure spikes rapidly—often forcing oil out of the oil cap, dipstick tube, or seals. In severe cases, oil can be expelled onto hot engine components, creating a legitimate fire risk.
